AIL 607 - READINGS IN INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNOLOGY

Work Samples

Infographic

For one of my assignments, I presented a book review in an infographic format. As an instructional designer, it was great practice to take an entire book's content and translate it into a precise design. Highlighting a broad subject and then simplifying it is a desirable skill needed to be an excellent instructional designer, so I appreciated it.

The AIL 605 professor provided reading resources that discussed information design and graphic design to help me create an infographic. The project helped me "think outside the box" when conveying information.

Books and Articles Read, Analyzed, and Discussed During the Course

A review of at least four books and one research article was required to complete the course. I listed the literature that I read on this page. The course taught me to analyze and critique the literature in my instructional technology field.

Kelly, K. (2017). The inevitable: Understanding the 12 technological forces that will shape our future.

Carr, N. (2015).The glass cage: How our computers are changing us (1st ed.)

Kaufman, D., Sauvé, L., Renaud, L., Sixsmith, A., & Mortenson, B. (2016). Older adults’ digital gameplay: Patterns, benefits, and challenges. Simulation & Gaming, 47(4), 465-489.

Leonhard, G. (2016). Technology vs. humanity: The coming clash between man and machine. [Kindle version]. Zurich: Switzerland: Fast Future Publishing.

Literature Review

In addition to all the course readings, I also wrote a review of literature. Writing the paper helped me in two ways. First, writing the literature review helped me improve my academic writing skills. The process required me to find journal articles, synthesize literature, and structure my paper using APA. Second, selecting my topic for the literature review helped me narrow down the subject that I eventually chose for my dissertation prospectus.
