AIL 604 - DISTANCE TECHNOLOGIES
Work Samples
Content Management System (CMS) Module & Learning Management System (LMS) Module
I developed an instructional module using two different online systems. The first system I used was a content management system (CMS) called Squarespace. The second system I used was a learning management system (LMS) called Blackboard. I also created a lesson plan for both the Squarespace and Blackboard instructional modules.
My modules included synchronous and asynchronous activities and assignments. I evaluated these modules by having a peer review from my AIL 604 classmates. I also analyzed the students who would be the target audience for both of my learning modules to make sure I was meeting their educational needs.
Details about my course included well thought out learning objectives and carefully selected multimedia to strengthen student learning. Overall, the CMS and LMS course demonstrated my knowledge of teaching, learning, and design principles that can be backed up by virtual learning theory and distance technology literature.

Job Aids
I created four job aids to assist instructional designers who need to build online courses. Each of my job aids represents an e-learning design principle, to include:
A job aid that described how to apply the multimedia principle when aiding multimedia elements to distance education modules.
A job aid that described how to keep in compliance with the modality principle, as well as a summary of how audio can increase learning gains.
A job aid that described the online classroom dynamics that take place both for the instructor and the students.
A job aid that provided an overview of critical issues, trends, and virtual learning pedagogy. Five e-learning myths were also included.
